A few years after their first marriage, Asha Bhosle wanted to quit singing and become a housewife

Legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle had revealed a few years ago that after her first marriage, she wanted to give up singing and become a housewife. 

It may be recalled that she married Ganpat Rao Bhosle in 1949 at the age of sixteen, when her husband was 31 years old. However, her husband did not agree with her decision and forced her to continue singing.

But they separated from Gunpat Rao in 1960. At the time, they had three children. After which Asha did not get married for a long time but later in 1980 she got married to renowned musician RD Burman (Rahul Dev Burman) for the second time.

In her old interview, Asha Bhosle said that her first attempt after her first marriage was to play the role of mother of her home and her first child Hemant. 

But my husband did not agree with my decision to quit singing and kept forcing me to continue. Was done

Then the relationship with my husband’s family became so strained that the marriage ended and I returned to my siblings and parents. I don’t blame anyone for ending my marriage but I must say that if I had not met Gunpat Bhosle I would not have had these three children.

It is to be noted that today is Asha Bhosle’s 88th birthday, on which several stars from the film industry, including Madhuri Dixit, have expressed their best wishes with congratulatory messages.
