Approval of Punjab’s new local government system delayed for further consideration and consultation

Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting on Punjab’s local government system and the draft law.

According to sources, the approval of the new local body system of Punjab was postponed for further consultation and consideration.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Asad Umar, Punjab Local Government Minister Mahmood Rasheed, Law Minister Raja Basharat and Industry Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal.

Federal Minister Monis Elahi and Tariq Bashir Cheema from PML-Q attended the meeting.

According to sources, the Prime Minister directed to take steps to further consider the new local government system keeping in view the rural and urban divisions.

According to sources, a meeting with the coalition leadership on the issue will be held again in the next 2-3 days.

According to sources, the meeting will review the points of the local government system and make recommendations.
