FBR system hacking due to stolen software

One reason for the hacking of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) system is the use of stolen software.

According to FBR sources, the US had warned Pakistan last year not to use the stolen software. The FBR had denied using the stolen software.

On the other hand, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said that the FBR system was hacked but a significant part has been activated. No damage has been done to the FBR system. The FBR has submitted a detailed report in this regard.

According to Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, external experts will review the report in detail. After the review, the system will be improved so that it does not happen again.

The issue of software theft was raised during a visit to Pakistan last year by US official Alice Wells.

Earlier, the FBR had denied that the system had been hacked.
