Govt approves Rs5.40 per litre increase in petrol price

The federal government has approved increasing the price of petrol by Rs5.40 per litre, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill said Thursday.

Sources said that the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 5 per liter.

Sources said that the price of diesel has been increased by Rs 5 per liter.

According to sources, the price of kerosene has been increased by Rs 5.42 per liter while the price of light diesel oil has been increased by Rs 5.92 per liter.

“Prime Minister [Imran Khan] went against OGRA’s recommendation and approved Rs5.40 increase in petrol price keeping in mind public interest,” the special assistant said.

Petroleum product prices have risen sharply. The new prices will apply from September 16.
