Sri Lanka beat South Africa in the first ODI

Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 14 runs in the first ODI. 

In the match played in Colombo, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 300 runs for 9 wickets. 

Among the Sri Lankan batsmen, Aveshka Fernando played an innings of 118, while Cherit Asalanka (71) and Dhananjaya de Silva (44) were all out.

South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Keshu Maharaj took 2 wickets each. 

Chasing the 301-run target set by Sri Lanka, the South African team could score only 286 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

South Africa captain Temba Bauma retired with an injury of 38 runs, while Aiden Markram scored 96 and Yaniman Milan 23 runs.

Century maker Oshka Fernando was declared the best player of the match.
